Established in 1875, The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) was the first child protection agency in the world and constructed the basic tenets of child protection laws in the United States. Today, The NYSPCC remains dedicated to protecting the safety of children and helping vulnerable families, with programs designed to prevent child maltreatment and mitigate its harmful effects. Since its incorporation 143 years ago, The NYSPCC has served over two million children, parents, caregivers and child welfare professionals.
