Last night after his final game for the New York Yankees, Alex Rodriguez celebrated his retirement from baseball after 22 seasons, 12 of which spent playing for the Yankees, at New York hotspot Up&Down. The party thrown by Richie Akiva was packed to the brim with A-Rod’s friends and family.
Jamie Foxx entertained the crowd on the mic all night as guests went crazy as they relived A-Rod’s 3000th hit, and countless World Series wins as Queen’s “We Are The Champions,” spun by Jus Ske played in the background.
Also seen celebrating this amazing night was director Spike Lee, A-Rod’s longtime team mate CC Sabathia and Yankee Dellin Betances. Friends and family including A-Rod’s mother, his girlfriend Anne Wojcicki and comedian Dave Chapelle were also in attendance as well as musician PartyNextDoor who just released his new album P3. Musicians Rita Ora, Karrueche, Kent Jones, actor Michael Shannon, NY Giants’ Jonathan Casillas, Myles White and Shane Vereen and the Jets wide receiver Darrell Revis were also spotted.
The gleaming Armand de Brignac bottle came out along with a cake right before MadeinTYO’s surprise performance.
The celebration continued when A-Rod along with PartyNextDoor, former NFL player John David Washington, and NBA Star Tony Allen headed to 1 Oak where Nas surprised the crowd with an impromptu performance.
