Ellen and Chuck Scarborough will host the Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue 5th Annual Summer Benefit on Saturday, July 23 from 4 – 7 p.m. at their estate in Southampton. The event raises money to save dogs who are on death row at kill shelters across the country, spay/neuter the dogs, pay for all necessary medical care and find them loving forever homes. Chuck Scarborough, Emmy Award-winning NBC anchor and correspondent, animal lover and adopter of two Gimme Shelter dogs, will act as master of ceremonies.

During the event, attendees will be able to enjoy live music while sipping on cocktails provided by Wainscott Main Wine & Spirits and enjoying hors d’oeuvres from Between the Bread caterers. The event will feature: a woof-alicious tasting cart for pooches by “Ollie,” the newly launched healthy and delicious gourmet dog food company, Tesla will be there with their newest Model, as well as a FAB live and silent auction.  Several high-end auction items will be on the block including: a personal tour of NBC studios by Chuck Scarborough, weekend getaways at The Baker House in East Hampton and Gurney’s in Montauk, a ride in an authentic WW2 fighter plane, cool art pieces by renowned artists Paul Gerben, Michael Dwek and Rock ‘n Roll Photographer Steve Joester, a night on the town in NYC including car service and tickets to a Broadway show, award-winning Tesla Model for a weekend, round of golf and lunch at Gardiner’s Bay private Country Club on Shelter Island, to name a few.

Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that believes every animal’s life is worth saving, regardless of breed, age, special needs or medical condition. Their special foster program is truly unique and allows GSAR to assess the personality and specific needs of each dog prior to adoption to ensure the best furever  home is found for each one.  GSAR’s mission is to rescue animals who are destined for euthanasia in high kill facilities across the country.  GSAR’s goal is to provide all medical care needed to ensure the overall health of every single dog they rescue and make sure they get adopted to families who will love and cherish them as treasured family members. Dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption.  Through their very successful adoption program, GSAR finds fosters for each dog and works tirelessly to  screen for loving forever homes.  GSAR is currently raising funds to acquire a mobile adoption van which will allow the organization to save more deserving animals.  “Saving one dog won’t change the world…but surely the world will change for that one dog.”
